COUNTDOWN To Penn Relays

Did you know that Roosevelt ‘Rosey’ Grier was a Penn State trackster? Or that 67 years ago, this Nittany Lion chucker won the shot put title at Penn Relays?

I didn’t think so.

But, surely you DID know that Grier would go on to play NFL football for the New York Giants, and was an original member of the Los Angeles Rams “Fearsome Foursome”.

Oh, and that he apprehended Sirhan Sirhan, from whom he wrestled the gun away, after the shooting of Robert Kennedy.

Just another one of those track & field ‘truth is stranger than fiction’ sort of tidbits. 🤓
