In honor of SEC week, I had the pleasure of speaking with University of Georgia’s star Matthew Boling to see where his mindset is as we enter championship season. Boling is no stranger to the track and field community as his first viral moment was just 3 years ago when he ran 9.98 setting the high school all-conditions record in the 100m. Since then Matthew has been an outstanding competitor specializing in long jump and sprints. Since he began his college career he’s won a National Championship title, and also is a 9x All American. Boling has a following on Instagram of 221,000 (and growing!) which easily makes him a fan favorite across the NCAA. If you’ve been to one of Matthew’s meets then you know his fan base is STRONG, athletes and parents line up around him looking to just get a picture with the star. It’s really amazing to see!
So far in his 2022 season, Matthew has run a personal best of 19.92 which makes him the fastest collegian at 200m so far this year. He has also ran 9.98 which has him currently ranked 4th in the NCAA. Matthew has secured one National title but I am sure he is looking to gain a couple more this outdoor season. We discussed in this interview which event he’s looking forward to the most, and how he plans on being the best version of himself. We are definitely wishing him well.
