Real Talk with Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone

This week on RealTalk, I had an amazing time meeting with World Record Holder Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. Born and raised on the east coast, Sydney began to win world youth titles at the age of 15. Not only did she set the World 400mh Record, she broke it 4 times within 13 months, including her final race crowning her world champion. Married in May to Andre Levrone, Sydney plans next season to add her married name to her bib.

Off the track Sydney spends a lot of her time in the word of God. During the pandemic Syd found a lot of comfort in watching sermons, which activated her journey in Christianity. McLaughlin-Levrone makes it a point to give God all the Glory in every circumstance. She also has some career goals outside of track that are currently in the works. I can’t wait to see what she has going on!!

In this episode, Sydney takes us through her career from the very beginning. Growing up in New Brunswick, New Jersey, her Track and Field career started off as a 100m race to earn a chocolate bar. Her talent began to take her to higher levels, but Sydney commends God &  her support system for keeping her grounded and calm. She also talks about her decision to run for the Kentucky Wildcats and why it was a short experience. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone sees no limit in what she can do on the track, in fact she loves doing what people think is impossible. At the age of 23 years old, this is only the beginning…..
