The Bowerman Track Club has seen its share of comings and goings this past year. Over the past 24 hours, the team announced a new member and a long-standing veteran of the club announced their departure.
In a post to Instagram, Josh Thompson, who had been with the club for six years, wrote, “From my college days, my aspiration was to join BTC, train amongst the best, and evolve into an aerobic monster. As my time with BTC concludes, I’m grateful to the coaches for their unwavering belief in me.”
Thompson will return to Nevada to train, where he spent his prep days at Moapa Valley High School. From Bring Back the Mile, while at MVHS, “he lead the cross country team to two Nevada state titles as well as winning two 3200m state titles.”
Josh holds a PR in the mile of 3:52.49, a 1500m best time of 3:34.77, and won the indoor 1500m USATF Championship in 2020.
Within hours of Josh’s announcement that he is leaving the club, Kaylee Mitchell shared that she would be joining the group. “I’ve signed with Nike / Bowerman Track Club to continue doing what I love at the professional level!”
A graduate of Oregon State University, Kaylee earned multiple All-American honors and set school records in the steeplechase, 3000m, and mile while competing for the Beavers. At the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships, she placed 7th in the 3000m steeplechase, and later that summer finished 6th in the event at the USATF Outdoor Championships.
Other recent departures from the club include Courtney Frerichs, Elise Cranny, Cooper Teare, and Grant Fisher.
