Annie Frisbie reports below on how her training and preparations for 2022 are going. This was written just before her 6th place finish at the Gate River Run, host of the USATF 15k Championships, in Jacksonville, Florida. Annie’s race was a solid step forward, as she continues to stack up top-10 finishes at USATF Championship races. She noted feeling like the hills and humidity got to her a bit, and that she went out a little faster than her coach suggested. All-in-all, it was a great first effort at the 15k distance. She’s looking forward to racing the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on Sunday, March 20.
I am writing this update mid-flight to Jacksonville where I’ll be racing the USATF 15k champs along with Kevin and Joel. This event is one I’ve had my sights on for several years now and can’t wait to finally get the chance to compete in. My fitness has also been gaining traction so I’m looking forward to seeing where I stack up against the strong field.
Recently, I got the opportunity to join Dakotah in Albuquerque for a brief trip and escape from the cold winter weather. It’s amazing what some sun and mountain views can do for your mood. Next year, I hope to do a longer training stint to fully realize the altitude benefits.
Other news from me, is that I’m now sponsored by Puma! It was an easy decision and a huge dream come true moment. Wearing the Puma kit for the first time at the Houston half marathon was such a surreal experience. I’ve also been working with my company Olive AI to take a step back and have transitioned into a more part-time role. They have been so supportive of my running career and soon I’ll have some more exciting news to share on that end…stay tuned
Outside of running life, Dhru and I have been fairly low-key. In our free time, we’ll visit a brewery, watch a show (currently F1 Drive to Survive), walk the dogs, or compete at Wordle. This chill period has been nice in prep for racing season and the busyness of summer approaching soon! Thank you for all of your support and hope everyone is having a great start to March.
