The women’s 3000m will be a sight to see at the Millrose Games in February.

It was recently announced that the competitive field is set to include Alicia Monson, Konstanze Klosterhalfen and college superstar Katelyn Tuohy.

Monson won the big race last year at the Millrose Games with an impressive performance. She set the facility record in the event, running 8:31.62. Monson found great success in 2022, winning the U.S. Cross Country Championships and earned a spot on the USATF Indoor World Championship team, where she finished 7th. She also was a member of the World Championship team in Eugene.

“Last year’s Millrose Games was an electric moment for the On Athletics Club with three wins, all while debuting our new spikes,” Monson said in the press release. “I’m looking forward to coming back to defend the 3000m this year! The atmosphere in The Armory makes for an awesome start to the track season, and it’ll also be special to have my teammates back defending last year’s wins.”

Klosterhalfen took home the bronze medal in the 2019 World Championships in Doha in the 5000m. Last season, she took home the gold medal in the 5000m at the European Championships.

Tuohy is one of the best talents on the collegiate level. She’s won two individual national championships (XC, track and field) and she helped NC State win their second consecutive national title.
Other notable names that will also be running in the race include Elly Henes, Courtney Wayment and Fantaye Belaynah. The 115th edition of the Millrose Games will take place on February 11.

I’m a sports journalist based in Florida and I’ve covered a couple of different sports so far early on in my career, but I love the sport of track and field and the art of running. Everyone has a story and everyone has a story worth telling. My prayer is that the stories of the great athletes of this sport are told, and that the sport grows to new creative heights, so that the sport gets the respect it deserves.
