The 2022 season has begun!
The goal for this first competition was just to get back on the horse after the rocky ending of my 2021 season, and I did just that. There were no expectations for this competition, especially considering the circumstances; I completed my heaviest lifting session of the season the day before, and had an early morning drive up to Orange County before competing. I powered through, and did my best to conquer the emotions and anxiety around competing that I’ve been experiencing over the past year or so.
Ultimately, it felt good to shake the rust off and start my journey towards making the world championships this year. This first competition gave me a much better idea of what I need to do to execute technically, and helped build confidence in my new mental approach towards competition. I am excited to continue to build off of this performance in the coming weeks!
