This week I am attending USATF Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field, in Eugene, Oregon. I had the pleasure of catching up with 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist Athing Mu. The last time we interviewed her was 3/22/21 while was still a collegiate athlete. Suffice it to say, a lot has happened since then…Welcome to Real Talk Update Segments.

Athing is gearing up for the 800m first round today, June 23rd at 4:25pm PT. Mu is the defending champion at this year’s event, as she brought home the title at last year’s USA Championship with a blistering time of 1:56.07. “I’m chilling as usual,” she shared with us. So far in this 2022 season, Athing has run a world leading time of 1:57.01 in Rome at the Diamond League meet just two weeks ago.

6/24 Update from the USATF Championships: Athing advanced to the second round in the 800m, winning her heat in 2:01.24 and will compete again on Friday, 6/24, at 8pm PT

6/25 Update from the USATF Championships: Mu advanced to the finals in the 800 meters by running 1:57.55 to win her heat and has the top time coming out of the semis. The finals will take place on Sunday, June 26 at 1:24pm PT
