This week on RealTalk, I had the pleasure meeting Jamaicaβs finest Charokee Young. Born and raised in Jamaica, She knew from the very beginning she wanted to become a track star. Not having much success in the beginning, Young knew she had a lot of work to put in to reach her goals. Competed in the 4×400 relay with Texas A&M Charokee is a 2x Collegiate Record Holder. She also ran a world leading 400m with a time of 49.87 at the Tom Jones Memorial while remaining the second fastest performer all time.
Off the track Charokee is currently her own stylist mastering her hair and makeup. She shares with us the reason her English is so well spoken is from a child she was prepared not to live in Jamaica forever, so proper English was instilled in her.
In this episode, Charokee takes us through her entire journey from the very beginning. Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica she shares with us what it took to get into the position she is currently in. Her transition into the NCAA was overwhelming, she let us know what methods she used to help her become successful. Young shares she lost many loved ones this year, and with the help of God she was able to push through. Championship season is here, I can see Charokee taking home some titles! Can you?
