A Solo Training Camp

I have always loved training camps. They are the perfect opportunity to focus in, get great training, and level up fitness. That’s why, when NNormal, my sponsor, offered to have me train in France for a month this summer, I jumped at the opportunity. France is known to be one of the best trail running locations in the world, and I knew that spending time there would give me valuable experience and training opportunities. For the first couple weeks, it was great. Spencer came with me, and we had an incredible time exploring a new country and getting in quality training. However, Spencer has his own goals, which required him to go back to the United States. So now I am alone. In France.

I always knew that this would be the case, so it’s not a shock, but it certainly is an adjustment. Throughout college and into my professional career, I’ve had 2-3 roommates at all times, meaning that I’m not accustomed to much alone time. I thought that it would be fun to have so much time alone because it’s always been a luxury that happened about 3 days a year. Over the last 3 days though (yes, I’ve only been alone for three days), I’ve come to realize that alone time is really only fun for about one day. After that, I crave human connection and company. Even so, I know that Chamonix, France offers some of the best training that I could ask for, so I’m doing all I can to embrace my situation and make the most of this opportunity.
